Students have recently returned from Rolls-Royce, Derby when they undertook their first industry course.
This course is split into two parts: a two day holistic gas turbine design course and three days touring Rolls-Royce facilities and factories and attending advanced talks on topics such as fan and turbine aeromechanics, cooling and heat transfer, noise and aerothermal design. The emphasis is on whole-engine understanding of performance covering a range of disciplines including aerodynamics, mechanics and thermal modelling.
